Why The St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market Is Our Grocery Rockstar

St Jacobs Market in Waterloo
One of the many perks of being a resident of The Uptown in Waterloo is the close proximity and convenience of the very popular St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market.

Open Thursday and Saturday all year round, Canada’s largest Farmers’ Market is a one-stop shop with hundreds of different vendor items to purchase.

Outside during peak season, there are aisles upon aisles of fresh produce from across Ontario, fresh cut flowers, locally made maple syrup, and much more. During the warmer months, a Mennonite farm tour is available which offers a serene horse drawn wagon tour of their farming community.

The bottom level consists of mostly foods: cured meats, cheeses, baked goods, jams and jellies, and the ever-popular apple fritters just to name a few. Home decor items and crafts can be found on the upper level of the main market building.

Peddler’s Village, also an indoor venue at the Farmers’ Market, offers its patrons a selection of furniture, house wares, clothing and footwear. A food court is also available with ready-to-eat local specialties as well as a variety of international foods.

Ready-made quilts, fabric and sewing accessories can be purchased at the Quilted Heirlooms Country Store, which is also located at the Farmers’ Market.

With only a 10-minute drive from The Uptown Retirement Residence, each week you can find yourself surrounded by delightful town vendors with an abundance of delicious foods and unique gifts with something for everyone.
